DETAIL ITINERARY
MORNING START (8am / Flexible time)
We start with a pre-dawn departure (4.30 to 4.45am depending on the time of year) from your hotel for sunrise over Angkor Wat.
Enter the great temple in darkness (bring a flashlight) from the lesser-known eastern side, and make your way along ancient cloistered corridors, passing the world’s longest stretch of bas-relief carvings.
Soak up the magical atmosphere of dawn at Angkor Wat from the edge of one of the ancient library pools.
Spend two hours exploring the interior of this magnificent temple, discovering its corridors, central chambers, and upper terraces with your knowledgeable guide.
Listen as your guide deciphers the countless stories depicted in the bas-relief carvings, providing insights into life during the height of the Khmer Empire.
After your Angkor Wat Sunrise Tour, enjoy a short rest and an optional breakfast outside the temple (not included).
Continue your morning with a visit to the atmospheric Ta Prohm temple, engulfed by the jungle and once home to 2,740 monks. See the temple as it appeared when French explorer Henri Mouhot ‘rediscovered’ it in the 1850s.
Next, head to Angkor Thom city, passing by the famous Terrace of the Leper King and the Terrace of Elephants on your way to the stunning Bayon Temple.
Marvel at the beautifully crafted central towers of The Bayon (12th century), adorned with more than 200 enormous faces.
Visit the southern Gate of Angkor Thom, flanked by a row of 54 stone figures on each side – gods to the left and demons to the right – and explore the fortified city of Angkor Thom.
Enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the Angkor Archaeological Park before returning to your hotel, with the tour concluding between 12:30 PM and 1:30 PM.
