Here, mostly houses are constructed on stilts raising up from 6 to 9 meters to accommodate the changes in water level between wet and dry seasons.

- During the dry season (November–April) as the river thins due to receding water, many turn to farming to supplement their income.
In this season, they are almost fully exposed with their stilts in full view excepting those located closer to the mouth of the Tonle Sap itself. Whether the water is high or low, a spectacle is guaranteed.
